Central Michigan Life has consistently been rated one of the top college newspapers in the country by the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) the past 36 years. Central Michigan Life has been a ACP Pacemaker Finalist 9 of the last 12 years: 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. CM LIFE earned Pacemakers in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 recognizing the outstanding work of our student journalists.


In 2017, Central Michigan Life was named College Media Company of the Year by the College Media Business and Advertising Managers (CMBAM) association for the fourth consecutive year. This award recognized the efforts of our advertising, public relations, marketing, social media and design students' works. In the past 5 years, Central Michigan Life advertising, social media, design and public relations teams have won 103 awards at CMBAM competition:
